New Cards

These are two cards that I just finished.  I've decided that I love screen printing.

I still can't decide whether I like this print best with just three colors or with a fourth.  If so, What color the fourth should be. Hmmmm...

Screen print in progress

I have two colors done and two to go.  It has been slow going cause I had to wash out the screens and start completely over.  Perfection takes much longer but it is way more satisfying  in the end.

Misako Inaoka

I've just discovered Misako Inaoka and I'm completely in love. 

Sculpture is coming onlong

It feels slow going.  So many little parts that have to be cut out, shaped, and glued in.  Not to mention the battle wounds of blistering burns from the glue gun.  

Studio Violet

This wonderful picture comes from that talented female duo Elisabeth Dunker and Camilla Engman over at Studio Violet.  They made these amazing dish sets from reused porcelain.

Progress

This weekend I figured out the trick to screenprinting.  It took me a couple tries working with the screen filler and fluid mask because I'm teaching myself.  But a little soap and water cleans the screen and I like mistakes when I'm learning so that I know how much is too much or too little.  I also made this cool drying thing with some wire and clips so that I can dry lots at a time with little space.

I've been working with different color combos for this pattern.  sigh.  It's still not quite right

Pattern play

I'm practicing my pattern making abilities.  I enjoy how methodical it is. Now that I have a pattern that I'm happy with I'm going to add color and interest and it will eventually become a print.  Exciting.

Idea boards

So much fun to make and they keep my mind on track.

miles upon miles of tea dyed graph paper.  Or maybe it's more like 240 little pieces.  

I just got new ink for my old Smith-Corona typewriter and I'm completely smitten all over again.  It was super exciting to find that you can just buy any cheap ink and re-roll it on the old the ink cartridge.  Thus saving much money and heartache while waiting for some special internet order.

I've talked about it.  Thought about it.  Now I've finally done it.  It, of course, being this blog.  It will be a catalog of my inspiration and life as an artist.
